Near Paternoster on the West Coast. One of the highlights being the Cape Columbine Lighthouse about 5km away along a gravel road. The Nature Reserve is especially pretty when carpeted with spring flowers and there’s something hugely romantic about lighthouses and their keepers!
Cape Columbine Lighthouse is situated on a prominent headland +/- 5km from the picturesque fishing Village of Paternoster (“Our Father”), deriving its name from the heartfelt prayers of shipwrecked Portuguese sailors.

It occupies almost all of Botswana, the eastern third of Namibia, and the Northern most part of Northern Cape Province. In the South West it merges with the Namib, which is the Coastal Desert of Namibia.

This Area has a Plaque of Comrades Marathon achiever Arthur Newton. This is aslo the resting place of many other brave runner's during the race! Arthur, the ‘Great Heart’ Newton- as he is fondly remembered was the first multiple winner of the Comrades Marathon! He won this Ultra Marathon consecutively for five times between 1922 and 1927 and set new course records on five occasions!

Perched on the Amathole Escarpment, the Mpofu Fort Fordyce Nature Reserve serves up staggering views of surrounding landscapes encapsulating the Katberg and Hogsback Mountains. Conveying Historic accounts from the past, the Area is graffitied with ancient San Rock Paintings and evidence of central escarpment.
