Strandfontein is a pretty little coastal village situated on the West Coast at the mouth of the Olifants River.  Strandfontein’s high cliffs provide excellent views across the sea ideal for spotting whales during season from the late winter into early spring.

"The aim of this lecture is to shed light on the Good Hope Centre in, Cape Town. An exceptional building designed by the famous Italian engineer and architect Pier Luigi Nervi (1891-1979). He was internationally considered as one of the masters of 20th-century reinforced concrete structures. The first contacts between Nervi and the City of Cape Town started in 1964, but the project was approved in the following decade and was inaugurated in 1977.

On this day in 2025, South Africa officially classified gender-based violence and femicide as a national disaster, following nationwide protests where women across the country lay down for 15 minutes at noon to honour the 15 women murdered daily in South Africa. The declaration came after the Women for Change movement's "G20 Women's Shutdown" campaign gathered over one million petition signatures and saw demonstrations in major cities including Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. This historic categorisation enabled government departments to redirect allocated budgets toward implementing immediate measures to combat the crisis, marking a watershed moment in South Africa's struggle against gender-based violence.

Established in 1880, Bethal is a small farming town, in Mpumalanga. Farming in potatoes, maize, sunflower seeds, sorghum and rye. There is also a large amount of mining activity in and around Bethal, with 20 coal mines and 3 gold mines in the region! The town originated from an old farm called: 'Blesbokspruit'. The town, established on the 12 October 1880 and was then named after the combined names of the wives of the owners of the farm, Elizabeth du Plooy and Alida Naude.
