This Farm is situated about 43 km West of Bela-Bela in the Limpopo Province. It is located within the Central Bushveld Bio-region. 'Phala'-is the Tswana word for 'red antelope' or an 'Impala Buck'. Phala Phala Wildlife, is a new 'Rare Game' Group of Farms founded with the purpose of breeding. This is an undertaking that seeks to contribute to the extension and deepening of South Africa’s Conservation efforts, particularly the preservation of South Africa’s wildlife Heritage.

Irvin Jim was born in1968 in the Eastern Cape in Motherwell. He became a university student, active in the anti-apartheid movement but poverty forced him to abandon his education to work in a Port Elizabeth tyre factory. He worked there to earn money and he joined the National Union of metalworkers of South Africa (NUMSA).

Essop Goolam Pahad

Essop Goolam Pahad was born on the 21st of June 1939 in Schweizer-Reneke in Western Transvaal (now North West Province).  He grew up in a family of political activists.

The Suburb of Tokai took its name from Tokaj, a range of Hills in Hungary. It was built in the late 1940's due to the urgent need for housing for South African soldiers, returning from World War II. A 'Tokai' is the ancient Malabaris's ( who originated from the State of Kerala) word for the tail of a peacock. (The name represents the importance of the Malabar region where, rumour has it, the British spotted a peacock for the first time.

'Nquthu' is an isiZulu name meaning: "the back of the head", also spelt 'Nqutu'. The Battle of Isandlwana was the first engagement in the Anglo-Zulu War, on 22 January 1879. Umzinyathi District has a total area of 8 079 square Kilometres and is located in the North of KwaZulu-Natal.
