The SA Prime Minister, B.J. Vorster announces that the Department of Information was being disbanded and replaced by a Bureau for National and International Communication. The move resulted in changes on leadership level, with Dr E. Rhoodie retiring from public service on 1 July 1978, to be replaced by Dr. Connie Mulder as leader of the new institution. It was also agreed that future evaluation of secret projects will be made by General H.J. van den Bergh, head of the Bureau of State Security.
