Gill Marcus is born

Gill Marcus, former Deputy Minister of Finance from 1996-1999, Deputy Governor of the South African Reserve Bank and Manager of Spoornet, was born in Johannesburg. She has since been appointed executive chairperson of the mining company Western Areas Limited, a company that was marked by serious financial irregularities while the late Brett Kebble was at the helm.
