Bafana Bafana wins against Algeria

The SA soccer team, Bafana Bafana, won their Africa Cup of Nations Quarterfinal match against Algeria 2 - 1 at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg. The defender, Mark Fish, scored his first goal in international soccer, while John "Shoes" Moshoue scored Bafana Bafana's second goal of the match. Bafana Bafana went on to the final to win their first major cup since their official return to international sporting activities in 1992. The team was then under the tutelage of Clive "The Dog" Baker.
