This Day in History: 2 June 1999
The Azanian People Organisation (AZAPO) performed abysmally in the 1999 elections, managing to secure only 0,2 % of the vote which gave them one seat in the National Assembly. This was AZAPO's first participation in elections since South Africa entered into a democratic dispensation in 1994, as the organisation had boycotted South Africa's first democratic elections.
