South African photographer, trade unionist and political activist, Omar Badsha, was born in Durban on 27 June 1945. Badsha played an active role in the South African liberation struggle. He was at the forefront of all the major anti-apartheid campaigns in Natal and the Western Cape for close to 38 years, during which time he was detained and harassed by state agents. Badsha founded the NGO, South African History Online (SAHO) in 1999 and is currently the organizations Chief Executive Officer.
