Suburb of Johannesburg adjoining Greymont and Montgomery Park. Established about 1896 on the Farm Waterval, it was named after the Alberts family, who owned it. The Afrikaans term 'kroon', refers to the brow of a Hill.
Fresh water runs through the Alberts Farm, the only artesian Spring in Gauteng is tucked away under Northcliff ridge on this Farm. It is the second biggest 'green lung' in Johannesburg. The rocky beginnings of the Stream from the Aatesian Spring, spurt a fresh, clean trickle of water throughout the Year.
The Alberts Farm Conservancy is a 90 ha. piece of gently slanted land up against Northcliff ridge, the second largest 'green lung' in the City after Delta Park. It is an Ecologically significant Area, with a high diversity of indigenous grass and shrub species, as well as several Dams, a Wetland, a Marsh and, of course, the Spring and Stream.
