Enlightened self-interest and the liberal spirit

Alfred and Winifred Hoernle Memorial lecture
The paper discusses how by placing together of self-interest and the liberal spirit might not be beneficial to the liberation struggle and to South Africans on the whole. The relationship between the individual and the state is discussed.
