The building was restructured in 1903 by J Parker, of the architectural firm Forsythe & Parker, and was dedicated to the memory of Minnie and Maria Bam, the daughters of JA Bam, who died in Germany. It was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 16 March 1984.
