Sunset Beach is located on Cape Town’s lower,West Coast Region. The suburb of Sunset Beach after which it is named. (AS PER PHOTO). Sunset Beach is a long sandy beach with spectacular views of the sunset and Table Mountain. It is a relatively quiet beach, especially during the week and is mostly frequented by the local residents and kite boarding enthusiasts.
Originally, Sunset Beach was considered to be the upper or northern part of Milnerton Beach but, with the newly established Suburb of Sunset Beach being developed in the early/mid 1990’s (an estimation) it was appropriately renamed to Sunset Beach.

This beach runs flat and uninterrupted, extending from Milnerton Beach (Woodbridge Island) Northwards until it meets with Dolphin Beach approximately 2.8Km away. With Milnerton Golf Course, next door!

There are 5 small Parking Areas scattered between the upmarket homes of Sunset Beach, some of which include small walkways to aid access to the beach, but unfortunately, most of these walkways have been damaged by the elements.

With its extensive exposed shoreline, Sunset Beach is battered by the Cape winds, which is why its popular with the Kiteboarding Community and not that popular with regular beach goers. Other than the Kite Boarders, the Beach is frequented mostly by the nearby residents, who enjoy bringing their dogs for long leisurely walks!
