Amsterdam Flats, Region in the Eastern Cape

Region between the Swartkops and Coega Rivers near Port Elizabeth. Named after a Dutch East India Company Ship, which was wrecked in a storm in the English Channel, on 26 December 1749. The settlement Amsterdamhoek was also named after that ship.
