Aalwynkop is a Hill 5 km West of Balfour and 20 km South-East of Heidelberg, in the Gauteng Province of South Africa. The name is of Afrikaans origin and means 'aloe hillock'. Located in the Dipaleseng Gert Sibande District Municipality, Mpumalanga.
"Aalwyn" is the Afrikaans word for: 'Aloe Vera'; a plant that has numerous cosmetic and medicinal uses and that also graces the many untouched landscapes of South Africa. In addition, this versatile succulent is used to make delicious juice. So, it is no wonder that the Aalwyn Farm Stall WAS so popular amongst locals and visitors alike.
It is situated between the Ohrigstad River and the Hills of Mpumalanga Province. Along the twists and turns of the R36 motorway aound the Blyde River Canyon, in the heart of the Panorama Route. Making it a visual masterpiece for those that appreciate the natural splendour of the countryside of South Africa.
"The Aalwyn Farm Stall used to displays rustic shelves with row after row of homemade preserves, delicious jams and tasty chillies. In addition, there are take-away pancakes, waffles, vetkoek and koeksisters on Sundays for a sample of local flavours. Many of the goodies on sale here have been made by local pensioners, who spend their spare time making delicious treats for tourists, and helping to support themselves financially.
