He was born in Durban. He attended Mzuvele High School and matriculated in 1979. He studied at Fort Hare University from 1980-1985 and obtained a BA(FA) Degree and an HDE. From 1989-1990 he studied at Wales University (UK) and obtained a Masters Degree in Art Education.
In 1993 he obtained a Certificate from Unibo in Fundamental Business; in 1994 he obtained a Diploma in Computers from Fincompt College and in 1997 he attended UNISA and obtained an ABET qualification.
Between 1986 to 1995 he has taught art at Mzuvele High School, at Umbumbulu College, at the Mmabana Cultural Centre and at Lehurutshe College; and from 1998 to 2001 he lectured in art at the WITS Technikon.
Between 1980 and 2001 he participated in numerous group exhibitions in SA and has taken part in print exchange programmes in SA and in Europe. He has served on numerous Management Commitees and has curated printmaking and mural projects. He is represented in public and private collections in SA and abroad.
