He was born in Durban. He studied at the Natal Technical College, Durban, the Croydon College of Design, Surrey, England, and at the UN(P) where he lectured in printmaking.
He has participated in group exhibitions in SA and abroad. His own work is represented in public and private collections in this country and overseas. He set up The Caversham Press in 1985 in the KZN Midlands; and since its inception he has worked with about 150 major South African printmakers, botanical and wildlife artists and several international artists. Many prints from The Caversham Press are represented in public and private collections locally and internationally.
