Polokwane Art Museum

This museum was founded in 1970 by Jack Botes, a former Town Clerk. Today there are over 1000 works displayed in the indoor collections, and the outdoor collection consists of many sculptures on permanent display. A mass of metal, made up of melted guns which were confiscated and destroyed at the end of the Makgoba War in 1893, is also on display in the library gardens. The museum curates unique works of industrial art, and the Industrial Art Park is the only one of its kind in Africa. The museum also includes works by Naria Mabasa, Danie de Jager, Jackson Hlungwane, Hennie Potgieter and John Baloyi.
