Sipho Ngomane of Nelspruit started running at the age of 16 after playing soccer initially. On 16 June 2005, Ngomane won the 80th Comrades Marathon race, after he ran down from Durban to Pietermaritzburg in a time of five hours, 27 minutes and 10 seconds mentored by Nic Bester. He was the second youngest to win the race.
Sipho is now listed on the Comrades records as a professional Sportman who ran just three minutes over than Bruce Fordyce’s 1986 record.
