Seven impalas are trapped in a camp and viciously beaten to death at Skukuza, Kruger National Park

Four South African National Parks (SANP) employees were arrested for beating seven impalas to death and cutting them up for meat in Skukuza, Kruger National Park. Witnesses saw the four men lock the bucks in a camp before beating them to death with sticks and pipes after which they cut them up. The men were arrested and charged with hunting in the park and illegal possession of game meat. A spokesperson for Kruger National Park reported that it was the first case of its kind at SANP, where employees were involved in poaching game for meat. Until the incident, they had only ever encountered poaching by syndicates and members of the surrounding communities poaching game for food.
