The SASOL petrol plant in Secunda, Mpumalanga Province, went up in flames after a giant gas explosion, this time not as result of a political attack or sabotage but rather from a gas leak which ignited. The explosion claimed the lives of six people and more than 100 were injured. Forty-three of the injured were rushed to the Highveld Medi-Clinic to receive medical treatment, mainly for burn wounds.
