This Day in History: 22 August 1925
Nelson Mukhuba, a versatile and talented South African artist, was born in Tshakhuma village, Venda. He worked as a carpenter, welder, gardener and house painter until he chose to promote his own Vhavhenda culture through his music and woodcarving skills. Mukhuba used mainly Marula and Jacaranda trees to produce his craftwork.
