Nelson Mandela is buried in the Eastern Cape

Nelson Mandela died on 5 December 2013 at the age of 95, in his home in Johannesburg. He was born in Mvezo village near Mthatha, Eastern Cape on 18 July 1918. On 15 December 2013, Mandela was buried in Qunu in the Eastern Cape. This is where he attended Primary school and was called ‘Nelson’ by his school teacher. Although 4000 people attended the funeral service, only 450 people were allowed to attend the burial service. Oprah Winfrey and Stedman Graham were among the celebrities who attended the burial service.
