Miss Namibia, Michelle Mclean, model and masseuse, is crowned Miss Universe in Bangkok, Thailand

Namibian born model Michelle Mclean was crowned miss Universe in Bangkok, Thailand in 1992. Mclean had won the 1991 Miss Namibia pageant as well as making it to the top 5 of Miss World in the same year. After winning the Miss Universe crown, Mclean moved to Los Angeles, where she studied acting. In 1995, Mclean joined South African pay television channel Mnet as a presenter of a magazine show. The following year she was appointed as continuity presenter. She has since presented several shows on Dstv and was Master of Ceremonies in several events, including the Miss South Africa 2010 and Miss World 2009. Mclean has one son with ex husand Neil Bierbaum. She is the first and only Namibian woman to win the Miss Universe crown.
