This Day in History: 23 April 1993
Calvin Thusago, a reporter for the SABC, was stabbed to death by a mob of youths as he and a colleague were on their way back from Sharpeville where they had filmed the desecration of Black graves by right-wing extremists. His colleague, Dudley Saunders, was also stabbed, but survived with serious injuries to his hands, arms and back. Members of the ANC Youth League turned over suspects in the killing to police the following day.
