This Day in History: 3 June 1986
Mziwandile Kekana, a 19 year old boy, testified in the Port Elizabeth Supreme Court that the people who accused him of being a police informer were those who killed Mr Anele Mnyalatyo. Mr Kekana mentioned that the crowd went to Mr Mbunge’s house where they believed Mr Mnyalatyo was. Mr Mbenge refused to allow them entry, but a smaller group forced their way into the house and found Mr Mnyalatyo in the bedroom and killed him. He mentioned in court that he did not see who killed Mr Mnyalatyo, but he saw injuries on his head. They were distracted from killing Mr Kekana, who was able to escape.
