My dear Joseph, I have got a pass for you to come to Natal which I am sending to Mr. Leach by the next mail. I am sending you £0. 15s. ... So you must pay for your passage and boarding fees and the remainder make the best of to buy some clothing for yourself. The authority which I am sending you, so you show that letter before you get your passage ticket. When you land in Natal we will be ready to receive you. You must simply say that you are the son of Madline Alexander Pillai and your name is Joseph Ruben Alexander Pillai. You must be very careful when you are coming on the steamer. So you must write to me by what steamer you are coming. We are all well here at present and hope you and your school mates all well. You must wish your school friends all good-bye when you coming.
