The Rugby Museum has one of the largest private collections of rugby memorabilia and is one of its kind in the world, a must-see for rugby fans, the Springbok Experience Rugby Museum is a world-class, modern interactive museum of local rugby history that’s designed to entertain the whole family. The experience tells the history of South African rugby with trophies, jerseys, boots and other memorabilia. The highlight is the interactive ‘Springbok Trials’ game zone, challenging kids and adults to test their skills in kicking, passing and more. From 1984, during apartheid, South Africa was banned from taking part in international rugby competition. When apartheid was abolished, the Springboks were readmitted and the team went on to participate in the 1995 Rugby World Cup. The team went on to win the world cup final versus New Zealand team. In an iconic moment known well to nearly all South Africans, newly elected President Nelson Mandela, wearing a green and gold Springbok jersey, presented the Ellis Cup to White, Afrikaans Captain Francois Pienaar.
