Sparks Mahamba was a member of the African National Congress (ANC) and uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK). Mahamba was killed in the Third Battle of the Wankie Campaign in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) at the hands of Rhodesian forces, on 22 August 1967.
