This impressive manor house with late Victorian and neo-classic architectural details was designed by Herbert Baker and was erected in 1898-1902 for Carl Jeppe who had been appointed Consul-General for the Transvaal in Cape Town. It was declared a National Monument under old NMC legislation on 17 July 1987.
