The first Museum of Illusions opened in Zagreb, Croatia in 2015 and achieved overnight success.
South Africa has around 327 Museums. However this new Museum displays the Country's rich Cultural and Natural Heritage, including institutions highlighting its struggle for Freedom and Human Rights, in an extraordinary way! The South African Cultural Observatory and Museum Explorer SA have both documented this number. They highlighted the importance of South African Museums in: "Nation-building; Social Cohesion; Education; Tourism, and Cultural and Visual Literacy". This globally renowned Museum officially opened its doors during May 2025, on Kloof Street in Gardens, Cape Town. Marking its debut in Cape Town and becoming the second Museum of Illusions in South Africa and third on the continent. The other location in South Africa is the suburb of Johannesburg-Rosebank.
Visitors can expect 60 jaw-dropping illusions and mind-bending experiences, ideal for both young and old! The Museum of Illusions quickly evolved into a global success, having welcomed more than 12 Million guests around the World. Each location is uniquely designed, offering its own take on interactive exhibits that blend Science and Magic to create awe-inspiring, hands-on experiences!
