Caleb Mayekiso was an African National Congress (ANC) supporter who was arrested on 16 January 1964 in Graaff-Reinet, Cape, and sentenced to three years` imprisonment under section 6(1) of the Terrorism Acton 14 May 1969 immediately after his release from Robben Island.
He was held for 14 days and died while in police custody on 1st June 1969 at the Port Elizabeth police station cells.The district surgeon said his death was from natural causes,and no inquest was held.Mr Mayekiso ,who had been twice banned,had been active in the early 1960s was convicted of furthering the aims of the ANC.
