Mission station of the Moravian Church on the Western slopes of the Piketberg, in the magisterial district of Piketberg. The farm was originally (1838) bequeathed to six of his freed slaves by H. S. Burger. On the death of the last of the heirs in Dec. 1888 the Moravians (who had been doing mission work there since 1844) bought the farm. The near-by railway station on the Berg River is Moravia. Goedverwacht is administered as a local area in conjunction with Wittewater, and has a population of approximately 500, of whom about 400 children attend the school.
The church and parsonage were built by the villagers and are constructed of local stone. Other interesting buildings include the school, the Mission Store and the watermill which now houses the museum.
