This is the 30th lecture delivered by Dr. Hugh Ashton in the Alfred and Winifred Hoernle Memorial Lecture series on january 18, 1978 at the University of Cape Town. The lecture comprises of some statistical information regarding South Africas' socio-political situation with an emphasis on race relations and an insight into the demographics with reference to Rhodesia as well. The discussion involves achieving "total assimilation" or a multi-racial state.
