Summary

1956 Treason Trialist and member of the SACP

Born in 1920 Barsel worked as a clerk. During the 30s he was assaulted when taking part in demonstrations against the Blackshirt Movement. He was secretary of the Johannesburg Medical Aid for Russia, during the war and a former member of the Communist Party of South Africa. After the treason trial he was placed under house arrest.
