Founded in 1815, the School is the fifth oldest School in the Western Cape and the oldest in the Cape Peninsula. Located at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountains and overlooking False Bay, Simon’s Town School is one of the most scenically located Schools in South Africa.
In 1995, in keeping with Simon’s Town proud maritime and naval Heritage, Simons Town School became the first school in South Africa to introduce a Maritime Studies department.

Emsley Manne Dipico, activist, politician and former Premier of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature, was born in Greenpoint, Kimberley. Emsley Manne Dipico was the first premier of the Northern Cape. He studied at the University of Fort Hare where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree. While at university he got involved in politics. In 1991, he was elected regional secretary of the African National Congress (ANC). In 1994, Dipico became Premier of the Northern Cape.
