Travis Logie was born in Durban on 11 May 1979.[i] Logie was crowned the International Surfing Association’s Open World champion in 2002, at the World Surfing Games held in Durban.[ii] The South African team was also the champion team at the World Surfing Games in 2002.[iii] He has defeated every world champion, except for Sunny Garcia.[iv] On 2 June 2012, he was crowned South African Surfer of the Year at the 2012 South African Surfing Awards.[v] Travis Logie announced his retirement from the Association of Surfing Professionals World Championship Tour at the end of 2014.[vi] He took on a more administrative position within the surfing community by his appointment as director of the World Surf League’s Qualifying Series and Junior Tour events.[vii]
