Sir James Liege Hulett dies in Durban, South Africa

Sir James Liege Hulett was born on 17 May 1838 in South Yorkshire, England. In 1857, at the age of 19, he came to South Africa. Sir Hulett founded Tongaat Hulett Sugar, a multi-billion rand JSE Security Exchange, listed company.  He also had a major influence in political, educational social and religious life in Natal. On 5 June 1928 Sir James Liege Hulett passed away at the age of 90 in Durban, Natal (now kwaZulu –Natal).
