This Day in History: 22 September 1952
Andries Johannes Botha was born on 22 September 1952 in Durban. He studied Fine Arts at the University Of KwaZulu-Natal and later went on to teach the subject at Techinkon Natal. He specialises in sculpture and has held group and solo exhibitions over the years.
Botha’s first job as a lecturer led to a string of others in the visual art industry, including founder and director of a gallery, founding a community art workshop and being chairman of several art organizations. Botha is currently founder and chairman of Mazisi Kunene Foundation Trust
