On 3 February 1969 Retief Goosen, a prominent South African golf player was born in Pietersburg, Limpopo province. Goosen, famously known by his nickname "The Goose" became a professional golfer in 1990 and received a world ranking of 22 at that time. He was awarded the Honorary Life Member European Tour in Recognition of Outstanding Achievements award in 2001. Goosen is married to Tracy, and they have two children.
