New Afrikaner Political Party

This Day in History: November 14, 1998
Additional Date: November 14, 1998
Delegates at the summit of the Afrikaner Unity Movement (AUM), held in Pretoria, voted to transform the AUM into a political party in order to contest the 1999 general election. Although the new party drew support from a number of leading Afrikaner political figures, it was attacked by Freedom Front (FF) leader Constand Viljoen as being divisive.
