Juan Leon de Jongh was born in Paarl, Western Cape on 15 April 1988.[i] Juan is a professional South African rugby player.[ii] His position of choice in “centre” in rugby.[iii] He attended Huguenot High School in Wellington.[iv] Juan showed great promise in the Vodacom Western Province’s ABSA Currie Cup campaign in 2009, before moving up in the ranks to become the first choice centre for the Stormers after the retirement of Jean de Villiers for the 2010 Super 14 season.[v] Juan made his international test debut for the Springboks in June 2010, when South Africa played rugby against Wales in Cardiff.[vi] He also scored his first international try on his debut. Juan formed part of the South African Sevens team who earned a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics hosted in Rio de Janeiro.[vii] The English rugby club, the Wasps, announced that Juan de Jongh was signed to the club in 2017.[viii] In his career, Juan made 56 appearances for Western Provinces, and 94 Super Rugby appearances for the Stormers.[ix]
