This Day in History: 16 May 1976
On 16 May 1976, South Africa lost a poet, author and a clergyman. James Ranisi Jolobe made a contribution to South African arts and culture through poetry. Born in Transkei, Jolobe was best known for his collection of poems, Umyezo (1936). He also played a major role in the compilation and translation of the English-Xhosa-Afrikaans dictionary.
