On 18 March 2007, Bob Woolmer (58), the Pakistani cricket coach and former South African coach, was found unconscious in his hotel room during the Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. He died later in hospital. After weeks of investigation his body was returned to his family in South Africa. Bob Woolmer was one of the most highly regarded cricket coaches in the world. He was employed by two leading Test nations, South Africa and Pakistan, and approached by England and the West Indies. In addition, he was a good cricketer in his day. He played for the English national team and was signed by Kerry Packer for World Series Cricket. Unfortunately many remember Woolmer for the circumstances surrounding his death, and his association with former South African cricket captain Hansie Cronje during the match-fixing saga.
