AZAPO, SOPA, and BPC announce a merger agreement

Leaders of the Azanian People's Organisation (AZAPO), the Socialist Party of Azania (SOPA) and the Black People's Convention (BPC) announced that they would sign a merger agreement on 9 September. In 1998 SOPA broke away from AZAPO after accusing its leaders of abandoning the socialist principle and neglecting party membership.
