ANC makes second submission before TRC

This Day in History: 12 May 1997
An African National Congress (ANC) delegation of 20 members, led by Deputy President Thabo Mbeki, made the party's second major submission to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). The ANC came under fire for instances of armed violence, necklace murders, executions in penal camps and the planting of bombs. The party accepted responsibility for more than 500 incidents of violence between 1977 and 1989.
