25 March 1994
The African National Congress (ANC) led a march through central Durban, attended by up to 100,000 people, to demand their voting rights. The march was organised a few days after Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini called on his loyal subjects to boycott elections. Zwelithini further told his subjects that the interim constitution would deny the Zulu nation its claim to sovereignty and self-determination. The march was the first event in the ANC's mass action campaign in Kwazulu-Natal.
