Page from The Comet newspaper. The Comet replaced The Star newspaper because of a ruling by State President Paul Kruger banning the newspaper for three months because it was a threat to the peace and quiet of the Republic. Ruling was later changed to prevent newspapers changing their names to avoid banning orders.
