He was born at Inanda, KwaZulu-Natal. He is a sculptor of figures and he works in wood. He attended school at the Umgeni Mission Station and trained as a teacher at the Vryheid Training College.
He then went to Ndaleni Training College in Richmond, KZN to train as an art teacher. He taught art at a higher primary school in KwaMashu.
He has participated in group exhibitions from 1965 in KZN and he held his first solo exhibition in 1980 in Durban. In 1967 he won the Study Award on the Art - South Africa - Today exhibition. He is represented in the Durban Art Gallery and University of Fort Hare collections and in private collections in SA.
