Rev. Mzwandile Ebenezer Maqina was born in 2nd of October 1937,New Brighton .He grew up in Port Elizabeth ,the son of two teachers,attended Lovedale,taught briefly,and began studies foir the Anglican ministry.he started an independent church in Port Elizabeth,the Spiritualist Church of Africa.In 1971 he was elected president of the African Independent Churches Association (AICA),but AICA folded a few years later because of internal disputes.
