Max Coleman was the Human Rights Commissioner,a businessman .He was married to Audrey Coleman, they had four sons, and became active members of the Detainees Parents Support Committee (DPSC). They were founding members of this organisation of parents that was formed to provide food, clothing and legal assistance to detainees under apartheid, as well as to monitor and publicise state repression.
